***UPDATED JANUARY 9TH 2009***

In the words of Roger,

I began collecting Dimestores in the late 1980's. At about the same time, I started converting some of these figures to WW1 Germans in order to provide opposition to my American troops. By the early 90's, converting became the main focus of my toy soldier hobby, with time my converting technique and painting improved. I finally reached a point where I could make figures as I saw them in my mind. This lead to the creation of dioramas composed of converted figures. In 1995, I began displaying dioramas in the toy soldier division at military miniatures shows and have won awards at numerous shows; Fraternity of North American Military Miniature Artists, Virginia; New Jersey Historical Miniature Associates; Miniature Figure Collectors of America, Pennsylvania; National Capitol Model Soldier Society, Virginia; South Carolina Military Miniatures Society and the World Expo 1998 in Toronto, Canada. You can read about my 1995 show experience in the Toy Soldier Review, issue 42.

Most figures carry backpacks and water bottles. In addition many German and American figures carry shovels. Most of my figures are Germans wearing either the camouflage steel or pickle helmet. I have also made some French figures wearing the Adrian helmet, some British with steel helmets and some American figures wearing either a steel helmet or campaign (scout) hat.
